As they begin to talk with out counselor next week about teen dating violence, they will be introduced to the 1 billion rising movement. The girls will have the opportunity to join in with people all over the country, and participate in a flashmob to stand up against violence towards women.
One of the reasons I first fell in love with pursuing art as a a career, was my freshmen year printmaking class at TCU. Silkscreening has been a big passion of mine ever since, and I am constantly searching for new materials to print on. I am drawn to the work of Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein, which first made me appreciate the art form...the bright colors, the pop culture element, I love it all!
I think with teaching, it is important for your students to see that you are passionate about what you teach. Why would they care to learn about something that you aren't passionate about. I have been searching for a way to incorporate printmaking in the classroom since the first day of school. With school budgets being the way they are, and never having enough supplies, I have been putting off the project. Now that we are into the second semester, I think it is about time that I just find a way to make it work so I can share my passion.
